Rotate an object

Objects in Studio can be rotated prior to placing them on the sketch. Objects that can be rotated in Studio include rooms, roofs, stairs, decks, and items that include reference symbols (e.g. toilets, cabinets, stoves, etc.).

Note: The examples below will direct you to select a room. The steps are the same for any other previously mentioned Studio tool. For more information on adding line items in Studio, see our Add line items in Studio document.

Rotate a new object

  1. From within Studio, select the Room tool.

  2. Select the Tab key to rotate the item to the desired position.
    Note: Each tab press rotates the item 22.5 degrees clockwise. Select the Shift and Tab keys at the same time to rotate counterclockwise.

  3. Left-click to place the rotated room into the floor plan.

Rotate an existing object

To rotate objects that have already been placed into the Studio floor plan, you first need to move them.


  1. From within Studio, select inside the desired room. The full room highlights, and the cursor turns to a 4-way arrow.

  2. With the 4-way arrow showing, select and hold the room. The room now moves freely with your cursor.

  3. While continuing to hold, select the Tab key to rotate the item to the desired position.

  4. Release the hold to place the rotated room back into the floor plan.
